Nominations for the .South Canterbury Hunt’s point-to-point steeplechases close on Tuesday next. Sansovino, winner of the Derby, started only twice as a two-year-old, and won on each occasion. Swynford, Lord Derby's sire, was responsible for both first and second horses. Nominations for the Ashburton County Racing Club’s meeting on Juno 20 and 21, close at 5 p.m. on Monday next.

Mi- J. P. Murphy has _ nominated Guncnse and Mountain Lion for the Melbourne Cup, and The Harp for the Cantala Stakes, a mile handicap, at the same meeting. Lord Astor. owner of St. Germans, has been specially unfortunate in connection with the Derby.
