The Riga correspondent of “The Times” says that Moscow hails China’s recognition of tho Soviet, as one of the greatest events in recent times. M. Tchitcherin declares that it is especially important, because the Pacific is replacing the Mediterranean as the centre of the world’s political and economic interests. It is the ocean of the future. It is said that it was necessary to carry cut the negotiations with China, in the strictest secrecy, lest the mailed fist of the Big Powers thwarted the Soviet’s efforts in this great forward movement for tho emancipation of the Orientals. “The awakening of the Orientals and their struggle against imperialistic oppressors is progressing gradually and irresistibly. Russia and China,'in the future, will go hand in hand, helping one another and giving one another lull support.”
