WINCHESTER.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The annual meeting of the Victoria Hall was held on Monday' evening. The president, Mr J. J. Cotter, presided over a small attendance. Apologies wrnre received from Messrs A. E. Langford and G. H. Mcßratney. Mr W. H. Lilley (lion. secretary') presented the report and balance sheet, which showed a credit balance of £3l 5s 9d, which was considered very' satisfactory. Mr Cotter, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, said that during the past year the committee had installed new petrol lamps in the hall, which were very satisfactory. The Committee hope to do further improvements when funds allow. He returned his thanks to the secretary’ (Mr Lilley) and the committee for their assistance. Mr Blathwayt. thought the committee should enlarge the stage.- Mr Cotter said to do so, would moan shifting the side of the building further out, and at present the.v did not have the money to do that work. Air L. H. Orbell said the hall had served the people for many years, and till Winchester grew more, ho thought the hall was large enough. The following officers were elected : Messrs J. J. Cotter (chairman), IV. H. Lilley (hon. secretary) : J. Alexander, G. H. Meßratney, J. Philp, J. Cripps, and A. T. Langford. It was decided to run a social shortly for buying more crockery for the hall.
