The first game in the country section of the senior primary schools’ football competition was played between Temuka and Pleasant Point, in Victoria Park, Temuka. The game was rather ono-sided, the home team running mit winners by G 1 points to nil. Mr J. T. Smart was referee. Immediately after the primary game a seven-a-side match between the secondary pupils of the same schools was played, and the visitors* demonstrated their superiority, and won by 6 points to nil. Mr Arnold was referee. TO-DAY’S FIXTURES The Rugby' Union’s competitions will be continued to-day, when the games postponed from last week, will be played. The junior match Celtic v. Southern; the third grade games, High Scbaui v. Pa reora, and Geraldine v. Temuka, and the fourth-grade fixture, School B. v. Waihi, which were played last Saturday, will stand and tlie.se teams will have byes to-day. The third grade match Y.M.C.A. v. Celtic, on.Anzac Square, will start at 2 o’clock instead of 2.45 as previously arranged. At the Athletic Grounds, Old Boys and Waihi will meet on No. 1, and Star and Celtic will try conclusions on No. 2. An attractive curtain-raiser should be provided on No. 1 ground, by the junior contest, High School v. Old Boys. The influence of the tournament should make for brighter play by all teams.
