By TeloaranU—-Press AsMKmtici

CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The statement which has appeared m North Island newspapers that already higher prices than, those which ruled for last season’s New Zealand, lamb, have been ottered f<* the coming season’s lamb, was brought under the notice of Mr David Jones,, chairman of the Meat Export Control Board. Mr Jones said that lie was not in a position to confirm the statement. The Meat Export Control Board had received no infprrnation on the subject, tie thought, however, that it was probably not far from being correct. Advices received bv the Board were to the citem that Australia would not be m a position to forward to the London marwe. during the coming season as large a number of lambs as was usually sent from tho Commonwealth. Mr Jones anticipated that the opening of the British Empire Exhibition „oxt year, ami the large number ot visitors it was almost, certain to attract:, would have an appreciable el ect mi tho consumption ol hunb. Anotiiei thing that might be taken as an indication that tho price of land) would be as high as. if not, higher than, during the last season was the tact that good prices were being realised tor hiue-, ami wool.
