Mining Town Destroyed.
FOREST FIRES SPREADING
Bi r CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, September 19. The mining town of Eldorado was almost completely destroyed by fire. At Berkeley a fire destroyed 1000 houses. The loss there and in other parts of the State is estimated at 4,000,000 dollars. A heavy pall of smoke hangs over the country. Forest fires continue to sweep the districts just north of San Francisco, winch are suffering from a protracted heat wave. Two hundred houses were burned at Petaluma.
The flames are now spreading to the Napa district.
