TRAGEDY ON A FARM.
BABY MURDERED AT DROMORE. By ouraul. —Press Association. ASHBURTON, Thursday. A lonely farmstead a mile from Dromore, which is seven miles from Ashburton, was the scene of a shocking tragedy at 8 o’clock this morning, wheii a three-months’ old child was killed by a large nail driven into its head. The child’s uncle, Thomas Jamieson, who is understood to be afflicted both mentally and physically, has been arrested. Dotaiis gathered by tho police indicate that ” the mother, Ellen Jane Jamieson, left the child on the bed, while, she prepared its food. Returning in ten minutes, she saw the child bleeding and dying.
