AMUSEMENTS.
COMING SATURDAY,
TO THE COSY GRAND
LAUGHTER AND TEARS WONDERFULLY WOVEN.
The companion picture to “Humoresque” comes to the Grand Theatre on Saturday. It is the CosmopolitanParamount production “The Good Provider.’ There are very tangible reasons for associating these two pictures, although they differ materially in one respect, that being, whilst “Humoresque” is an epic of mother-love, “The Good Provider” reveals the heartstirring struggles a father’s affection will inspire in him for the sake of his family. Their similarity is based, firstly, upon their personnel. Fannie Hurst, author, and Frank Borzage, director, created them; Vera Gordon and Dore Davidson interpret the roles, supported by Miriam Battista, the gifted child artist. Secondly, the simple, homely theme in a humble setting, which rises to the greatest heights of sheer .life-drama. These" pictures have achieved the .fundamental aim of the motion picture —to depict life truthfully and exactly. The fact that they have succeeded is contained in the world-wide enthusiasm with which they have been received.
Seats may be reserved as usual Phone 486.
