the MAORI TEAM. PLAT SOUTH CANTERBURY TO-DAY. The New Zealand representative Maori team, under the management of Mr W. T. Parata, arrived m iirnaru by express yesterday morning, and will meet the South Canterbury fifteen at the Caledonian Grounds at 2.46 to-day. The visitors were met at the station by members of the South Canterbury Union, and after an informal welcome were conducted to their quarters at the Grosvenor. In the afternoon the visitors had a training run at • the Caledonian Grounds, and commented favourably on the location of the match. In the evening the party were present at the Theatre Royal. ; The big game this afternoon is timed to commence at 2.45, and will be preceded by a primary school competition fixture, Main v. South, at 1.30. Mr J. O’Leary has been appointed referee for the representative match, and Mr P. Tutty will control the schools fixture. For the convenience of country visitors the afternoon trains from Timaru this afternoon will be delayed until the following times:—For Oamaru 4.40 p.m. (picking up passengers at the Caledonian Grounds); for Fairlie, 4.45; for Ashburton 5.0. H. Parker, the South Canterbury wing forward, has intimated that he will be unable to play, and another rearrangement of the team has been made. A. Scott will be moved up to wing forward, and the vacancy at second five-eighths will be filled by G. P. Lawson.
