C.M.G. FOR MASTER. BIRTHDAY HONOURS. Only afew Birthday Honours have been bestowed in New Zealand. PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM (Official.) AUCKLAND, Friday. The Governor-General announces that His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased on the occasion 01 his birthday to confer the following honours in recognition of distinguished services: Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.8.E.) —Robert Howard Nolan, C.B.E. Sir It. 11. was honorary secretary and officer-in-charge of tho New Zealand Soldiers’ Club in London from the date of its inception early in the war until its close some time after hostilities ceased. This club which was admirably conducted, was of incalculable value to New Zealand troops on leave, Sir Robert was formerly associated with agricultural development and progress in Taranaki province. He was created Commander of the Ordm of the British Empire in 1918. Knight Bachelor.—The Honourable Frederick ' Revans Chapman. Sir Frederick was appointed judge of New Zealand in 1903. He was president ot the Court of Arbitration from 1903 to 1907, and Compiler of New Zealand Statutes in 1921.

(Military Division) —Commodore Alan Geoffrey Hotham, C.M.G., naval aide-de-camp to tho King in recognition of valuable services rendered in organising recruiting and training for the New Zealand division of tho Royal Navy and as naval adviser to the New Zealand Government. Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)—James William Tibbs, M.A., one of the Dominion’s leading educationists, recently retired from the position of headmaster of tho Auckland Grammar School, ■which lie had occupied for many years with conspicuous success. Thomas Edward Donne, secretary of the New Zealand High Commissioner’s Office, London, who joined the New Zealand Public Service in 1875, and was Superintendent of the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts in 1901. He entered the High Commissioner’s office in London in 1909. Officer of the Most Excellent Order of British Empire, O.B.E—Frederick William Flanagan, permanent head of the Valuation Department. He has been a member of tho New Zealand Public Service for more than half a century.
