FIGHTING CANCER.
GREAT EMPIRE CAMPAIGN. BY CAI3US— PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT (Received 8 p.m., May 31.) London, May 30. The cancer campaign is attracting the greatest attention. The point is stressed that the whole Empire should concentrate on the problem of dealing with this scourge, which causes one in every seven deaths of persons over 30 in Great Britain. The appeal is signed by Dawson, Bland, Sutton and other leading physicians, surgeons, scientists, and bankers, and askß the public of the United Kingdom, and the Dominions for funds for organising systematic research and treatment throughout the Empire on a scale hitherto sible.There will be a series of working committees embracing medicine, t.uigery, pathology, and so forth, with an executive acting as a clearing house. The Red Cross Society placed its organisation at the disposal cf the campaign, a generous donor paying preliminary expenses.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
