Perennial ryegrass was, apparently so scarce that the f.0.b., s.i., price had reached 7s per bushel. There is a firm demand, but tbe opinion is that values have reached they peak. Up to 5s 3d has been paid at country stations. Italian is moro plentiful, and business has taken place at 6s 9d, f.0.b., s.i. Reas are very weak, and sales have been made at os 6d at country stations. Business in linseed has been negotiated'between merchants at a. basis of £l4 per ten to farmers, but growers are holding off for an increase on this figure. White clover has receded slightly from last week’s healthy position. Hales had taken place at up to Is 7d per lb to fanners. This price is not now available. Cocksfoot is quoted for standard seed at Bdd, with few buyers. Values to farmers on this basis are about 5d at the bavs and SRI on tho rail. , Potatoes are being' shipped north, upwards of 60 tons being despatched to-morrow for Auckland, in the crops that aro being dug in tho vicinity ot Christchurch there is evidence to some extent of disease, and the belief. DAthe disease is general is restricting offers. Up to £4 for March deliveries is being paid, with £3 15s for later months.
