NATIONALISATION.
A CONFERENCE RECOMMENDATION.
TO AMEND PRESENT LAW. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Received 0.20 a.m., August 5. LONDON, August 3. In the House of Commons at question, time the Holt. E. Shortt, Home Secretary, stated that the Imperial Conference hmd agreed to recommend to tho Dominion Governments a proposal To amend the nationality law, so as to provide for the acquisition of British, nationality by persons of British descent, ’oorn abroad. Agreement ought to ba reached with the overseas Governments before legislation was introduced in England. Steps were being taken to obtain agreement, and he would endeavour to expedite a conference with, the Dominions so as to introduce legislation at tho beginning of next session.
