The Board of Trade inquiry into tho sinking of tho British steamer Spathari off tho Portuguese coast on April 19 found that the chief engineer (Thomas Malleyj wilfully scuttled the ship by opening the sea communications with tho engine room. The master and officers did not try to ascertain tho causo of tho leak, and prematurely abandoned the vessel. Malley’,s certificate was cancelled and the master’s suspended for three months.
