THE OTAHUHU CLUB. AUCKLAND, Aug. 3. A protest on behalf of the Otahuhu Trotting Club in respect to the Racing Commission’s report was put before Auckland members of Parliament by a deputation of about 150 sportsmen. ■ After the club’s case had been stated, the Hon. Mr Garland drew attention to the fact that the Commission had been set up under the Gaming Amendment Act of 1920, and that clause 3 of that Act gave the Commission power to extend present racing days, but no authority to cut away totalisator permits at present in existence. Mr Potter intimated that the Parliamentary members present had decided to telegraph to the Minister of Internal Affairs drawing attention to the point mentioned, and requesting that no action be taken until Parliament had considered the report.

! Forward Lady (N.Z.) has been scratched for the Australian Steeplechase. There are eleven final acceptors, including Kilowatt, for the Australian Hurdle Race, to be run at Caulfield on Saturday. A Press message from Christchurch states that L. Hagerty,. the well-known jockey, had a fall at Riccarton yesterday while schooling Bay Lupin. He was removed to Christchurch Hospital, where it was found that although he had sustained an injury to his spine, his condition was not dangerous. Bay Lupin broke a leg and was destroyed. (Bay Lupin is an ancient gelding, lately resurrected, who won a hurdle race at Washdyke several years ago.)
