The freight on the produce sens out and tho materials brought, in is 30s a ton. It is here that the fires Jiyht railway is to be" built-. A mass meeting at Hillewlen, of Blenheim and Valley men rceeutly elected a committee to set about forraing_ a board, and matters are moving rapidly with, the progress committee in the lead. The type of line to be built is of the 2ft gaiijre advocated by Captain Dansey. It will be laid along the roadside- r.nd will connect with tho railway at Blenheim. The ultimate goal is a connection with the West Coast, and tho first section of 40 miles will go as far as the present road end. .As the road advances—in accordancewith the Public Works promise, it is to go on rapidly—the railway will follow to Tonhouse.
