KING'S MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE

The High Commissioner (Sir Herbert Samuel} delivered the King's Message to ;:-t assemblage of notables of PalesLiiic. It announced the creation of an Advisory Council, composed mainly of Government officials, but including ten non-official members .drawn from various sections of. the people. It also announced an amnesty for persons imprisoned during the recent disturbances and for political prisoners. The Message promised that steps for peaceful and prosperous development would bo carried rut with imparciality, respecting, the wishes of every race and creed. It also referred to measures for the gradual establishment of a National Home for the Jewish people, which in nowise would affect civil and religious rights or the prosperity of the general population.
