| METHODIST CHURCH SOCIAL. A welcoming social was tendered Rev. arid Mrs Feaiiierston by the members o; the above cliurcli on Wednesday niglit, when there was a large and representative gathering Qf members and friends. Tile proceedings opened with prayer and praise. Sir W'. J- Sutherland, who was in the chair, apologised for the absence of the officers of the Salvation Army, and called upon the following members to welcome Mr Featherston on behalf of the different organisations of the church: — Mr Bae, church, deacons; Mr Grayburn, congregation; Mr Logan., church trustees; Mr Vaughan, choir and Bible-c-lasses; Mr Cottrell, Sunday School. Rev. Dawson Madill, Presbyterian minister, expressed his pleasure at being present, and said that lie looked forward to many years of co-operation with. Mr JTeatherston in the extension.of Christ's Kingdom. Mr Feathers ton, in replying, said he felt, quite overcome by the many kind tliinigs-that had been, said about lain and by the kindness shown him lie c-orad only say "Thanks" for it all. He was not altogether a stranger to Geraldine, as he had preached there before on different occasions, and had been present•at the opening of the new church. Helooked forward with mvoh pleasure to his work in Geraldine. and felt that by all working together in union iuid bar' moEiy much good would be accomplished. During the evening games and competitions were held and musical itenvs v ere rendered by Miss' Myrtle. Slisrratt(pianoforte solo), and Mr S. Bennington, Miss .Cliff, Miss B. Logan, and Mrs? Proutir-g (songs). Suptser was served by the ladi"3, and an enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem. :
