PRESENTATION.

TO POPULAR SINGER,

Mr E Budd, who lias been with the firm of Messrs McGruer, Davies and Co. s-nce boyhood, a matter of thirteen years, has now been transferred on promotion by bis firm to take charge of their Masterton branch. Mr Budd waa deservedly popular wick, the firm and with the general public, and his advancement has been received with pleasure by a large number of friends. Ha is a. man q{ pleasing personality, th« possessor of a very fine voice, and has been an energetic war-worker, having done as much in helping forward entertainments t 0 alleviate the distress caused by the late war, as any vocalist; in South Canterbury. As an indication of Mr Budd's popularity, perhaps the presentaltaon mads by the Orpheus Society to him just b*-' fore his departure, is a. typical example. Mr J. Holdgate, in making the presentation, took advantage of the opportunity to wish Mr Budd the best of good luck and to congratulate him on hia big promotion. He spoke very highly of the great help Mr Budd had been to the Society and regretted, on behalf of the members, his loss as a A; volume of songs and handsome muaio case, suitably inscribed, was then presented to Mr Budd by the Society. Mr Budd, in replying, Stated that he would much miss the Orpheus; he had always looked forward with pleasure to the weekly practice, and had gained much through his association with the Society. During his recent visit, to the North Island he had heard choirs of greater strength but none of better qualitv. He thanked Mr Holdgaie and the members of the Society for their handsome presents, and sad that anythinc he had done for the society had been a pleasure. The members - t^ ajoined hands, heartily singing -For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."
