The idea with the Royal Commission is to have a general stocktaking on a field muca wider than the ground of dispute between the employers and the miners.
RAILWAYMEN'S OPINION. _A largcly-ntteaded meeting of tho Tiniaru branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants passed the following resolution: "That this meeting of railwaymen, owing to the unfair and arbitrary attitude adopted by tue Oor.l Mine Owners' Federation towards the accredited representatives of the miners, call upon the Government io bring about a compulsory conference between the mine owners and miners' representatives. 11
