King Gustav V., in his speech from the throne, said he sincerely hoped that free Finland would co-operate with the other Scandinavian countries in'a common effort'towards peace "and progress. He announced the initiation of negotiations with Finland to settle the Aaland Islands question. „ King Gustav added, referring to the difficulties of overseas trade, that negotiations were in progress for the resumption tinder certain conditions of Swedish independence and neutrality.
