DRAUGHTS MATCH. TIMARU CLUB V. WATERSIDERS. Eor tlic last two or three yews the secretary yvtr no effort in trying to arrange a match with the Watersiders, and on Tuesday evening Jast at Hutchison's Tea Rooms a good gathering of checker players assembled in battle array. There were thirteen players representing eacli side, and everything was soon arranged to a nicety. There was some very interesting play, and the Timarn B team were victorious iiy 22 points to 16. After the games a. supper was provided. Air (J. J. Sea ley thanked the Waterside team for giving the Timarn C.ub an interesting match. congratulated them on their good nlay. and hoped that before long a return match" would take place. Mr Sealey described draughts as one of the finest games of indulgence during the winter months, and mentioned the different openings, of ■which there are something like 40. all with names, and each 'openings hsn innumerable variations. On behalf of the Watersiders, Mr D. Mill said his team ivero at a disadvantage in not having sufficient oractice. Thev had only two boards at the waterside for all the men, and under the rironnistances they had done well.
