SOLDIERS FAREWELLED
AT GAPES VALLEY. A farewell social was tendered to Privates F. Hopping and A. Hall lasb week in the Gapes Valley hall. There was a large actondance, about 70 oeuples taking p art ; n t ] ie dance. The chairman of iin: combined \ alley Patriotic Committees introduced the guests <«' the evening. and spoke of them in terms of high esteem. .Mr P. Mulvihill presented an illuminated v.ris-'dot watcli to each lad. The. ladies <.wing n..,i1 c l also p!Vi' eacli of them a, parcel of comforts. Messrs Mulrihill. Leonard, and Hcyder spoke in high I raise -.f iho guest*, and said they felt sure they would give a good account of themselves.
During the evening the Gapes Valley orchestra played the British and Belgian National Anthems, and the ''Marseillaise-." After tho soldiers had suitably responded, the large compauv sang "For they are Jolly Good Fellows," followed by three cheers, and cheers for iheir respective families, and for tho ladies who provided a sumptuous simper. r music -was supplied by the Gapes Valley orchestra,, Mr P,.
