A message from Berlin states that the Russians at Brest Litovsk made a bold defence. They were greatly outnumbered and retreated eastward in good order. The, capture excited a tremendous outburst of ioy in Germany. HOW NOVO GEORGFEYSK FELL, A MEAGRE GARRISON. PETROGRAD, Aug. -20. The garrison at Novo Georgiovsk was at the last- stage of its strength. The defence never exceeded a division and the greater part- of it was withdrawn during the bombardment.,. General Bobyr, the commandant of the garrison, was seriously wounded just before the fall of the town. RUSSIA WILT. FIGHT ON. CZAR'S t'NSHAKEABLE WILL. PARIS, Aug. 23. LONDON, August 26. Reuters Petrugrad correspondent" states that the enemy has two thousand guns of various calibres at Kovno. Fighting is now progressing twenty miles north-west of Yilna. The Germans are straining every nerve to capture. Vilna ' before the Russians are firmly established on a new front- eastward of the Niemcn.
