RUSSIAN CAMPAIGN.
GERMAN FORCES. MORE VIGOROUS THAN AUSTRIAN PETROGRAD. Sept. 6. The wounded from Prussia describe how they stood for hours amid a rain of shrapnel, and were unable to see a single German for dust. Aeroplanes enabled the artillery to direct the fire on the Russian lines. Zoppelins were useless ■ three were brought down. The Germans killed a number pf Russian wounded, and fired at them under the white flag frequently. They also used dumdums, and are using various infernal machines in destroying highways and bridges. LEMBERG. AUSTRIA'S SEDAN. Tho capture of Lemberg was so sudden that the station was crowded with trains loaded with munitions of war, dynamite, benzine, and medical stores, which the Russians seized. AX IMPORTANT CENTRE. Lemberg controls tho junction of eight railways. A new route is thus opened to the Russians to Buda Pest. ROME, Sept. 6. Advices from Vienna state that the defeat of Lemberg routed tho whole Austrian army in Galicia. Tho only hope now is the German contingent, which is so heavy that it is congesting all the railways towards the northeastern frontier. WHITE FLAG IN USE. At Tomnschoff the Russian infantry put the majority of Austrian officers hors de combat, causing a panic. Then began a general attack upoii the Austriaos, who speedily hoisted the white flag. This is a frequent occurrence. SCHOOL GIRLS OFF TO THE FRONT. Col. Tomilofssky's two daughters and Major Gerard's daughters at Vilna, disguised as soldiers, stole off to the theatre of war. Eventually their parents allowed them to go to the front as volunteers.
