• CRUfSER PATHFINDER, SUNK BY A MINE. LOSS OP LIFE. (High Commissioner's Cable.) LONDON, Sept. 6Official.—The cruiser Pathfinder 3000 tons, nine 4-inch guns, struck a mine on Saturday, twenty miles off the east coast. She sank rapidly and the loss of life is probably heavy. A GERMAN EXPLOIT. The Admiralty announces that a German squadron consisting of two cruis** ers and four destroyers succeeded in sinking fifteen British fishing hoats in the North Sea. A quantity of fish was eaptmecl and the crews of fishermen were taken to Wilhelmshaven as prisoners of war. AIR. BOMBS AT SEA. Received 5-5 p.m., Sept. 6th. LONDON, Sept. 4 (p.m.). A submarine discovered bombs that had been dropped in the North Sea from an aeroplane. NOT NAVAL ENGAGEMENT. It is surmised that German destroyers and torpedoers were damaged by their own mines. > x The Germans continue to sow mine fields, usually thirty milcg out opposite the east coast commercial harbours. The Admiralty has taken the Crystal Palace for naval purposes. EXPECTING THE GERMAN NAVY. Received 12 p.m., Sept. 7th. LONDON, Sept. 6 (a.m.) • The Admiralty has announced that all aids to navigation in the North Sea by day and night may he removed, without further warning at any time.
