The Protestant Defence Association carried a resolution against the Papal censorship over books either through the Customs, public libraries or booksellers, thus dictating to free Australians what they shall or shall not read. Another resolution urced members to support all efforts to prohibit the manufacture, importation, and sale of all alcoholic liquors. STATE IRONWORKS. The Cabinet has authorised the preparation of a Bill for tho purchase or construction of State ironworks. TO DEVELOP THE COUNTRY. ' A meeting of business men of various grades formed a National Council with the object of securing uniform concerted action on questions of national importance conserving and developing tho best interests of Australia.
