GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES, of 1500 sovo; 3 miles.—Arequebuse 9-0 1, Sparkle 11-9 2, Obi 11-5 3. Starting well, Golden Cairn (9-7) led out, followed by Rufus (9-0), Lady Esker (9-0) and Arquebuse. Leaving the straight, Bribery (10-7) and Hunterston (9-3) went to the front. Golden Cairn leading. Passing the stand The Reckoning , (11-13) assumed command, Arquebuse being closest, with Bribery running last. When they had half a mile to go Arquebuse held the lead, with The Reckoning and Sparkle a couple of lengths away. Arbueb.isc showed the wav into th'« straight, nearest being Sparkle and Hunterston. Then Sparkle made a determined effort to overtake the leader, but Arquebuse, who showed no signs of tiring, won comfortably l>;,four lengths. Spavkl" beating Obi by six lengths for second place.
