The mail and express cars were rifled. The mail clerk and conductor wore ho r .h shot, tho former fatally. The robbers tied telegraph poles across the track and stopped the train. Alany of the passengers alighted, thinking it was a collision. They stampeded aboard when tho robbers fired upon them.
