PLEASANT POINT.
(TOWN BOA1U) MJSETINCr. The monthly meeting of the Pleasant Point Town .hoard was hold on Tuesday evening. Present —Messrs •'• Crawford ' (chairman),. Ilalstcad, Xt'lhgau. Chiiholm, "Butcher, Maze and C. Smith (clerk). Oorrcurjondeiico from the Levels .County. Council and the Valuation Department, was read, and lioth had been attonded to by the clerk. A letter was read from Mr J. 8. Hutht'iford. enclosing a petition relative to the naming of the .Eastern Extension of tlic Timaru harbonr.-;-Tlie letter was received with approval. Slaughtering licenses were granted to Messrs Nelligun and Murphy, and A. Gaseoyne was given leave to creot a verandah and scaffolding in front of Mr Oborn's shop. The Chairman reported that the work, had been done on Halstead's road; that a innm Jirni been erected in front of the school; that MiMaze and himself bad waited on the Levels Comity Council, re converging '.rui'lic, and had been 'given a good bearing, and' thai a special meeting bad been held to adont ' the balancesheet. Some comment was made bv a member .-.with regard to the Hoard ereotI ing a lamp for the benefit of the I school only,—The Ohairman explained | that the * Technical Association had agreed to light the hvnin. and find the oil if the Board erected the lamp. ilt was a street lamp, and it was for the use of the public, nnd it bad been I decided at -the- last meeting to. erect the lamp. It 'was agreed to appoint the Clerk (Mr Smith) as treasurer, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. AlcKibbin .for his services as treasurer. .. On the motion of Messrs J. Ghisholm and.. Halstead it was agreed to raise the"' Clerk's salary by £5 per annum. The Board voted £5 towards the Coronat : on celebration, and £lO towards a permanent memorial, and passed the accounts presented.
