The complete success of the-Corona-tion season festivities is now. assured, for the general committee and the .evoral .sub-committees aro proceeding apace witji the arrangements, and tho programmes outlined tor each of the day a functions show that the celebrations will be.of an exceedingly elaborate order. The iirst meeting of the general coiumitteo since the appointment of sub-committees was held in the Uoruugh Council Chamber last eveuiug, tuero being present tho Mayor and Mesas Wm. Priest, J. Hole, T. D. Young, C. Wood, M. Higgins, W. Angland, T. Corlott, J. Burmester, J. A. Valentine, O. N. S. Arber, W. H. Kodo.'i, G. A. Simmers, H. Green, Vbiii], G. J. Sealey, Tonycliffe Bradley, L. Jonas and Ccpt. P. Campbell. The Mayor reported that, since last meeting, the sub-committees had been working busily and were going "full-steam.-nhe.-Kl very enthusiastically. Iho report of tho Day Procession Committee was read and. adopted. Mr Jonas added that most of the local-lodges would be represented in the procession. Unofficially, Mr Young stated that the Harbour Board would probably donate £lO to the celebrations fund, and empower the men to work up a display if so desired. . On the suggestion of the Maynr, it was decided to invite the wreck veterans of theSO's to ride in a special conveyance in the procession. GERALDINE. A special meeting of the Geraldiht* Borough Council was held on Tuesday night to consider proposals for oele- : brating and commemorating the Coro- ! nation. Mr F. R. Fiatman offered to giv» £42 10s, half cost of entrance gates to the Domain, if a plate were attached recording the fact that he had been a member of the Domain Board since 18i4 and was mayor for two years. Ihe Mayor said there must be a plate commemorating the Coronation too. Mr Flatman's offer was accepted. The gates will be manufactured by Messrs Cooper and Duncan.
