Craifiie M.P., said that the Hifih School Board had done ' really good work in adopting so excellent au ugrioultural oourse. What was wonted for a louje time in South Canterbury liad been a, well-equipped laboratory tor agricultural pui-posee, with wellequippod bulldjnije, uto. and two or three u/:i-gs along side for experiments no a small scale. There should also bo an expert to. ttaoli scientific ayrioulture. jCxpciiinente in dilferent parts of South Canterbury oould.be made as to the differont kinds of. manures, productsj etc. Such would increu&e tho production ,of tho district, as lessons from other countriea showed. Ho waa heartily jileased that the Hieh, School Board bad made a move in tho direction indicated.
Mr F. Barkas, in moving that tho Chamber should congratulate tiro Board on its very excellent decision for an agricultural course, said that the movoment was of much, importance to South Canterbury. Suooosgful farming, as timo vent on, would become, every day, a more difficult business. 'Ho trusted that, boforo long there would be experimental farms dotted through' out South Canterbury. # Mr J P. Newman seconded tho *notion, which was carried amid applnnso. Mr F. A. Raymond, in returning thanks, eaid the Board bad framed thd course only after very deep consideration.
. Mr T. D. Young said that the course, m an agricultural community like South Canterbury, gave every promise of suooes*.
