To the Editor of tho "Timaru Herald. 3 ' Sir,-r-In' reference to our Theatre Royal, last night I paid 3s for a seat in the dress circle, and after putting up with the discomfort of being- partially. boiled, my discomfort was further added to by tli6 show people packing into the circle the overcrowded ground floor section, and to make matters worse those people were sent up tlirotigh the fire escape, which was completely blocked. Tho unfortunate seat holders who were placed on the fire escape side of the theatre certainly did not see the show out with any Aogreo of comfort, qn account, of the encroaching on their seating space by the people who had been sent up from below. I ask the question, what are the officers of the Borough Council doing to allow such a flagrant breach of the by-law in regard to overcrowdiug to take place.—l am, etc., " Discomfort." 1 The weekly meeting'of tho Life Boat Lodge. 1.0. G.T., was. held.last evening. TJro. Muchmore presided over a fair attendance of members*. Correspondence was received and dealt with. Tho C.T. presented to Sister Proudlock a handsome pair of dishes, she being tho .winner of a spelling bee -ield a few weeks previously. Reports were received from the banquet and picnic committees. The programme for tho evening took the form of holiday reminiscences, some very amusing tales being told , which passed away a pleasant hour.
