MOUNT LYELL RETURNS. tPr«ss Asasociation-By Telegraph-Copyright MELBOURNE, Oct.. 15. Mount Lyell returns from September Bth to October 6th inclusive, show that 27,113 t-ons of ore were treated, also 10 tons of purchased ore. The converters produced 591 tons of blister copper, containing 584 tons of copper, £9.70r o;:nocs of silver, and 790 ounces of gold. RICH MINING RETURNS. PERTH, Oct. 15. A parcel of 200 tons from Builfinich mine, yielded 7 ounces 13 pennyweights of go'id to the ton. The Government geologist reports that tbe bulk of the samples!: from- the Bullfinch leases gave returns ranging from 2 to',.'§3 ounces to the ton. Another find-described as above the average is reported from Golden Valley, 7 miles north-west of Bullfinch. WOOL. The following was the revenue received at the Custom House this week : Customs duties £2*26-1 16s 6d, beer duty £3S 19s, light dues £5 8s Bd, shipping fes 9s; total £2309 13s 2d. Ltd., report on their weekly horse market held at Tattersail's yards on Saturday as follows: — The yarding comprised 26 head, and the demand was keen for young draught mares and geldings, some of these bringing £36. Small goods and sundries met with the usual ready sale. BESWICK STREET ROOMS. The report of Messrs C. Jonas a.nd Co. for the week ended October 15th is as follows . Produce—As we predicted potatoes showed a. sharp rise on Monday and Tuesday, due no doubt to tho scarcity of the line, and also the demand in the north. The high price ruling for new potatoes has affected the sale of old tubers to a great extent. Oats are practically unsaleable, while wheat has declined in price, the only line to hold lirrn being oatenstraw. Chaff and onions are firm at late rates, but this only refers to prime Melhournes. Quotations are—Onions ljd to L\d, Butter lld ; hams Gd, bacon 4d to 5d per ib, eggs 9d to lOd per dozen, potatoes 1 nine 17s 9d to 19s .others i4s to 16s, seed 13s to 15s, barley 8s to 8s 6d, wheat (whole) 8s 6d to 9s Gd, broken 6s to 6s 9d, and 9s, oats 8s to 9s, chaff Is 5d to Is 6d, oaten-sheaf 2s 6d to 3s. Fruit—There has been an exceptional run on fruit. A 1 Ifruit is dear with an upward tendency, ruling prices being:—Bananas 16s to 17s 6d, apples 10s to 1.2s 6(1, lemons (scarce) 13s, South Australian oranges 16s to 17s, pines lis to 12s 6d per case.
