SALE OF WORK.
A most successful sale of work, under the auspices of the Ladies' Guild, was opened by the Vicar on Wednesday afternoon last in the Parish Hall, St. Andrews. The ladies of the Guild are to bo congratulated, on the large measure of success attending their efforts. The stalls were prettily fronted with light draperies of suitable tints, and presided over by the followin p;-.—Work Stall, Mrs Hawkes, Mrs Ward, Miss Bertie; Refreshments, Mrs Tt. H. Khodes; Sweets, etc., Mrs I'oxoft; Fancy Stall, Miss Shave; Christmas Tree. Miss D. Hawkes ajid -Miss H. Nicholls; Shooting Gallerv, ore., Mr R. N. Hawkes, Mr W. L. Howard, Mr Lon Chappie, Mr Gifford. Mrs G. K. Askin, Miss Boyle, Mrs Chapman, and Miss Stephenson, Mr Geo. Emery and Mr C'allaghan also rendered valuable assistance, while Miss Bessie Layers, as secretary :uid treasurer of the Guild, was indefatigable throughout. Musical items were rendered at intervals during the progress of the function; also some acciiiii|>iishcd dancing hv Masters Guss. Nicholls and George fernery. The attendance was satisfactory, and there being a large amount of goods on hand, m, was , { ' witlt 'd to continue the sale on Thursday evening. Again the attendance was excellent, every article was disposed of, and when the sale concluded at 11 p.m., the net takings were about £4O. Before closing the proceedings, the Vicar returned very hoartv thanks to one and all for their kindly assistance. and expressed Pleasure at the delightful heartiness that had ruled the w,hole proceedings, there being not one discordant sound but a strong unanimity from first to hist. The National Anthem was then sung, and the sale closed.
