Some few months ago Mr Crnigie, M.P.. wrote to Mr Carnegie informing him that already the Timani Public Library had become too small for the requirements of the people of Timaru, and remindim: him of his promise to give an additional grant, should jt be necessary. Ptease' send .plans for inspection, and say when the library building was opened. "When sending the plans you might also outline in red ink the extension von propose. On receipt of this letter Mr Craigie forwarded it on to the DeputyMayor together with the following wire:— "To Deptity-Mayor and Councillors: Evidently Mr Carnegie means to favour our request when he asks lor particulars. Suggest to Council that tli"jeonfer with Mr Panton, as well as late and new librarian, to decide to what, extent and how additions .should go . . . Council should lose no time in having plans forwarded to America."
