FAIRLIE NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. The weather still continues very dry. Haul -threatened once or twice during jhe week, but beyond a thuudershower ■in Wednesday evening, no rain has fallen. Tho country is looking fresh and green; but farmers would welcome a couple of indies oi rain. The lambing is practically finished on farm lands, and is in full swing on the hill country. The percentage will bo a fainy good one this season. The high winds, and the lack of suitable fend have not been too gocd for the lambing, but nu rough wet weather was experienced. The last of the euchre parties in aid of the.funds of the Fairlie School Committee: was held on Tuesday evening. There were sevPral counter attractions in the townshi;:, and the attendance was consequently smaller than usual. The entertainment was, however, the joil.est of the series, and those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Play was kept up tid a little after t?n o'clock, when the points were added up. and prizes awarded as follows:- — First prizes Miss Bessie Kerr, and M" Smart, booby prizes Mr A. King, and Miss Hoskiiig. Refreshments, provided by -the. ladies, were then handec! round. The committee desires to thank very heartily all those who have consistently ho! pud to make the euchre parties so successful. On Wednesday evening the vestry of St. Stephen's Church met, and derided to procerd with the work of erecting new- fences--in front of the church grounds, and it was also agreed to put in-new division fences required. Tiie work, when completed, will add a good deal to the appearance of the grounds.' ' -

• On the same evening Mr Brown, agricultural instructor, delivered a lecture in the schoolroom to fanners on '• Manures and Manuring." The lecture was given under the auspices of the Mackenzie Agricultural Society and the president. Mr A.
