CANDIDATES FOR SOUTH SHIELDS.

Mr Russell Rea, is a Liberal 1 candidate for South 1 Shields, Mr Vauglian Williams, as Unionist, and Mr Will Crooks has been provisionally adopted as the Labour candidate. Mr Havelock threatens to stand as an Independent. THE VETO CONFERENCE. Tho Conference sat for two hours. The " Daily News" states that there is strong reason for thinking that the Veto conference is discuussing all round devolution, and that no solution agreeable to all 1 sides is possible without a general handling of the entire legislative machine. This implies a period of preparation, sugggesting a continuation of the truce throughoutthe next summer, and legislation of a constitutional character afterwards to be ready in the autumn. The "Times" states that it is thought in wel'l informed circles that if the leaders propose an arrangement between the parties the Government will withdraw their Bill and retain office throughout 1911. thence is now assured.
