THE SHEARERS.
ANOTHER DEADLOCK. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 11. The shearers' dispute came before Mr Triggs and the Assessors at a meeting of the Conciliation Council this morning, in the form of ail application by the Otago Shearers' Union for an award governing the wages of sbed hands, the parties being unable to come to an agreement. Mr McManus, one of the assessors for the Union, said that if the dispute was not settled a squatter might find a difficulty in getting shearers to go out. They wanted to deprive a few rouseabouts of some measure of protection. He charged the sheepowners with coming to the Council in an unconciliatory spirit. The Commissioners said that as no recommendation had been made by the assessors, the dispute would lie referred to the Arbitration Court.
