WHEAT AND FLOUR. Press Association—By Tel.—Copyright LONDON, Oct. IU. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom amount to 2,230,000 quarters for the Continent to 3,690,000 quarters. The Atlantic shipments for the week total l 141,000 quarters, and the Pacific 50,000 quarters. The total shipments to Europe amount to 1,865,000 quarters, including 64,000 quarters from the Argentine, 820,000 quarters from Russia, 490,000 from the Danubian Provinces, 140,000 from India and 40,000 from Australasia. The "Times" crop reports to October Ist, place wheat in Britain at 91.1, barley 92.6, and oats 93. psr cent respectively of average crops.

FROZEN MEATS. The Refrigeration Congress at Vienna has adopted a resolution urging tho countries which do not produce sufficient meat for their own consumption to repeal measures excluding refrigerated 1 meat.

Mr T. B. Robinson, Agent-General for Queensland, Sir William HallJones, New Zealand High Commissioner, and Mr Coghlan, Agent-General for New South Wales supported l the proposal, as also did the Russian, Argentine, United States and other countries' representatives. The agents-general have requested Austria to allow tria:l shipments to be made of Australian meat.

CHRISTCHURCH PRODUCE . CHIIISTCHURCH, Oct. 11. Business in the grain market is confined to the purchase of odd lines of "wiheat for shipping pwposes. Tie limit of price is ciueiiy bs at coiunu'y stations. An occasional lot of better quality makes 3s 2d for milling or shipping. A line each of I\iscan and Hunters totalling 2100 busliels have been taken at the former figure, and good milling Pearl and Hunters at 3s 2d. The millers are only purchasing odd lots to keep up their stocks, and there is no general demand on their part.

Oats ore enquired for, but very few are offering. Oatsheaf chaff is firmer, and G2s 6d to 65s is offered for bright samples, according to distance from port. Tho offerings of potatoes are very short, and the prioe has further firmed,_ £7 12s 6d to £7 15s new being the prices paid at country stations. Though the demand fcr agricultural seeds lias eased off on account of the continued dry weather, there is a good demand, for ryegrass, of -which the market is short.
