LIBEL ACTION. In the libel action by Archbishop Clarke against J,-,],„ Norton, proprietor of "Truth." application was made by plain!ig in the Practice Court. Melhourne. that defendant should give further particulars of his defence on the ground that the defence as siat-d was embarrassing, oppressive and irrelevant. His Honour agreed that particulars should be given and the matter stood over.
THE RICHMOND DISASTER
At the Richmond disaster enquiry the superintendent of the goods service was asked if the Victorian Railway Department winked at breaches of the regulations until accidents happened. He hesitated and said he was placed in a funny position.
