GERALDIXE SALE.

The fortnightly sale was held at. Geraldine yards yesterday when a good! entry wa3 offered. Competition on fat lambs wa3 not quite eo good as has been experienced at late sales, but this is accounted for by the fact that the majority of tlie lots offered comprised what may be said the " washnp'r for the season, consequently were small, and not finished off. * Store ■sheep met a fair demand. Quotations —Fat iambs 12s 3d, 12s 6d, 12s lid 13a od, 13s Bd, 13s 2d, 14s Id, 14s sd, 14s 8d to 16s 4d; fat ewes 10s, 10s od, lis 4d, lis sd, lis 7d. 12s, to 14s 4d; fat wethers to 17s; fat and forward wethers to 14s 9d;; ewe hoggets to 14s; hoggets (mi.) 10s, 10s od, 10s 6d to lis 6d; mixed ar*e ewes to 14s 9d.

TJhere was a good demand for hoggete, and they sold at an advance of about 6d to 9d per head, an outside buyer operating freely. Very little business was done in other classes. Eiva hoggets made 13s to 14s, wether hoggets 10s 3d to 10s 9d, mixed sexes 10s 6d to lis 6d. aged ewes in lamb 7s 7d, wethers 14s Sd to 15s. Fat lambs totalled 3513, and considering the lateness of tho season there were some very good lots on offer. The demand was not bo active as of late and prices fell away about 9d xo Is per head. The range of prices was: —Tegs 15s '9d to 18s, ordinary freezers 13s to 13s 6d, light and unfinished 10s 6d to 12s 6d.

There was a good demand for fat sheep of good quality. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers 17s 6d to 225, others 15s to 17s, merino wethers 12s 6d. prime ewes los to 19s 9d, medium 12s to 14s 6d. aged and light 8s 9d to lis 6d. Fat cattle numbered 336, including a large proportion of very prime qualitv. Steers made to £ll 5s and extra £l3 os. heifers £5 19s to £S 10s. extra to £lO 12s 6d. and cows £5 10s to £7 17s 6d, and extra to £lO 7s 6d—equal to 26s for extra prime, 21s 6d to 24s for prime, and 19s to 21s for cows and inferior per 100 lbs. Yeal calves made 48s 6d to 695.

A small yarding of store cattle met with a. poor sale, IS to IS months sorts were passed at 30s, 2 year heifers made £"3 los, 3 year steers £7 15s, heifers £4 2s 6d, dry cows 30s to £3, dairy cows £3 10s to £8 los. Pigs—Choppers up to £4, medium baconers 42s to 465, lighter 38s to 40s. equal to 4d per lb; good porkers 32s to 365, smaller 24s to 31s, equal to 4Jd per lb; medium stores 18s to 225. DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Oats—The market is quiet, and there is no change in prices. Prime Gartons and SparrowbiUs for which there is a fair demand are not offering freely, consequently Utile business is passing. Any samples of medium quality are being taken by produce merchants for local consumption.
