THE TIMARU BURGLARIES.
SUSPECT S,TILL AT LARGE.
Concerning tlie burglaries which were reported in tho "Herald" on Saturday, the police are exiromely ivijoent, and from ilie first they liavo steadfastly refused to give any information. We are nhle to say however, that no to a late hour last niylit, no arrest had .been made. Now that Tiembath has been captured, however, the local members of the force will bo able to give close attention to the matter, and if an arrest is net. soon made, the offender will find it too da"-
gerous to repent his nefarious work, for a time at all events. The burglary at the abattoirs is not thought to be in any way conneoed with that in Timnru. The former is believed o have been clone by some mischievous boys, more as a. mattef of sport than anything; else. Til ore were different things of value that could have been taken from the building, yet notion?; was touched except a bottle of lemonade. The abattoir business occurred before the? town burglary. Fortunately neither of the medical men whose residences were entered, suffered .any appreciable loss. Nothing was taken from T)r Louehnan's house, and Dr. Talbot merely lost a feu- sliillings.
