THE PAWELKA CASE.
TRIAL FOR MURDER. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, May 26. The hearing of the charge of murder -.gainst i'awelka was continued to-day. The whole day was taken in hearing the evidence for the Crown. Nothing fresh transpired except that a. difficulty arose as to the relative weights ot bullets in Pawelka's and Quartermain's revolvers. The Court adjourned at 4 o'clock to allow of a thorough test of the weight of the bullets to be made. The defence is to be heard to-morrow and it is understood that a considerable amount of evidence will be brought forsvard. Pawelka made a scOle when. Gallagher gave- evidence to tho words spoken by tho accused after his capture. "With his faco working and intensely white, he rose to his feet and called out — " Your Honour, that is a lie.'' lie was then pulled to his seat, and remained quiet during the rest of the proceeding^.
