ON THE WEST COAST. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, May 26. After receiving several deputations afternoon to Itinru and visited the Ross goldfields. He proceeded jit .in> afternoon to Ruinui and visited tue goldfields there. Replying to a Miners' Association deputation lie promised tu take definite action on his return to Wellington in reference to the question of the amalgamation of the three water rights (already granted) and would send a definite announcement on Monday next. Sir Joseph was entertained, to-night at a banquet by the Mayor and borough councillors. He announced that a one day service would be arranged for by the Government between tho oast and west coasts within live or si:: months, and that the railway to tho Otira tunnel from the Christchuieh side would he finished before the contractors completed tho work of piercing the hole in the hill. Sir Joseph left for Greymouth after the banquet.
