TROTTING MEETING TO-DAY.
Everything points to tlie meeting of the South Canterbury Trotting Club to-day being thoroughly successful. The weather has been favourable for some time, and the six-furlong course, much. ! improved since last meeting, is in first class order. The entries for each event are satisfactory, and the handicapping should produce some close finishes. A special train will leave Timaru for the racecourse at 1.10 p.m. at the usual fares. Victoria Handicap— Advantage 1, Malmnga 2. Welter H«ndicar>—Mass Advance 1, Electrar koff 2. CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. CHRISTCHURCH, May 25. The Canterbury Jockey Club last year paid away £30,240 in stakes. Government taxes absorbed £3050, and £6312 was spent on new stands, totalisator caretaker's cottage, and £1343 on improvements at the course. From the totalisator the receipts were £17,339, bookmakers' licenses £6220, nomination and other fees £6925, subscriptions £1785, receipts from race meetings £9973. Tho total receipts from all sources were £48,126, and the cash balance at tho end of the year was £431 6s. NORTH OTAGO MEETING. OAMARU, May 25. The North Otago meeting concluded to-day. The sum of £8049 was put through tlie totalisator for the two I days, -which was something less than last winter meeting. Results :. —

PUKEURI HANDICAP—PaIette 1. Optimeform 2, Alto 3. Won by half a length.
MEMBERS' HANDICAP— Obsona I, Rock Ferry 2, Octave 3. Won by a length.
