HOCKEY.
AVOCA CLUB. The Avoca Hockey Club held their xirst annual meeting last night, lie v. Father Tubman (club patron; presiding •jver a large attendance of members, ilia annual report showed that the club had had a very successful season, finishing second in the championship and winning the six-a-side tournament medals. The club's thanks were due for donations to Rev. Fathers Tubman, .Kerley, and Smyth, and to the lady .supporters of the club. The balancesheet showed the creditable balance of £ls. The .election of office-bearers resulted as follows: —Patron, Rev. Father Tubman; president, Rev. Father Smyth; vice-presidents. Rev. Father Murphy, Mr D. Mahoney, Mesdames P. O'Meeghan, "Ward, McKenzie, Gillespie, Skinner, and Loughnan; club captain, Miss B. Ward; secretary, Miss H. McGraih; treasurer. Miss L. Kennedy; committee, Misses L. Crimruins, M. McGrath, K. Mara, E. Kennedy, C. Dunne; delegate, Mr M. Mahoney; coach, Mr A. Duff; field captain. Miss M. Sullivan; selection committee, Misses M. and N. Sullivan, E. Kane, and B. Ward. The president congratulated the club on their success in the past season, and expressed sorrow at tho loss of their late Rev. Father Kerley, who lias been transferred to Hastings. A hearty yote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the rev. patron for presiding.
