At a special meeting of the Waimate Hign School Board, to consider tho amount oi subsidy to be paid by that Board to the second assistant (.to he appointed), in the higher division <>< the Waimate District High School, :t was decided to request the Education Board to suggest to the Waimate school committee that in making toe appointment the High School Board .hotild confer with i-ne committee.

Harris was the first to arrive, but after a long and exhaustive enquiry he was disqualified on the ground that he accepted outside pacing. This seems to have been quite unpremeditated on the part of the competitor, and was unfortunate for him as he came in well ahead of the rest. The race was arranged and prizes presented by Mr E. Casbolt, of the Centaur Cycle Works, and Messrs J. Sinclair, E. S. Mills, A. Greig, E. Travers, F. Saner and G. Joyce were the officials.
