ROAD. 11AOE AT WAIMATE. On Thursday night quite a crowd assembled at Twoonioy's corner, "Waimate, to witness tho start and finish of a bicycle road race from "Wainiate to Makikihi. There were ten starters, Messrs ,T. W. Freeman, T. Hughes, and T. Twoomcy were timekeeper, starter, and judge respectively. The rsult was as follows: S. Sauer, (smin) 1 W. Linton, (smin) 2 W. Duckett, (6min) " 3 Time —50min 50sec. JTho prizes were—£2 and a gas lamp, los, and 10s.; the winner also fakes 10s and a set of Dtinlop tvres for fastest time. 'The Playfaif" Cyclo Gompanv provided the prizes and arranged the race.
