It was remarkable how many young men and losing women were offering theniselvis for foreign mission work, and he «-.-ik inclined to fear that they c-oulrl not all be adequately supported. The chief business of the church at present were Home Missions and these were comparatively neglected. It was pitiable to hear of tho miserable salaries some of the men—family men too—were getting in the back-blocks of the North. Island. The Horde Mission fund should be four or five times as large,, though, not at the expense of Foreign Missions. Mr Shaw also expressed his satisfaction and pleasure as a delegate.

• The Moderator said the financial reports were highly satisfactory. In spite of the depression the total contributions were £IO,OOO in advance of any previous year. Members were reminded that the \ Foreign Mission collections have to be made this month. Rev. Mr Bole sent a draft list of visits for the Social Service Association and this was approved. The dates are: —Temuka Nov. 11, Timaru (Trinity) Nov. 21, Waimate Dec. 5, St. Andrews 12, Pleasant Point 19, Fan-lie x Jan. 9, Geraldme 16, Albury 23, Waitaki 30, Timaru (Chalmers) in February."Each, church will pay Mr Kale's railway fare from Christchurch and return.

Bev. Mr Jupp, travelling secretary to the Bible Class movement, addressed the. Presbytery on the need for Sunday \School teachers recognising more fully the extent of their opportunities and the importance of thenwork, for the proper fulfilment of which- training in teaching was required by very many of them. He proposed, if the Presbytery approved, to attend one of their meetings and address them on the subject of forming a Sabbath School Teachers' Association, such as was doing good work in northern cities, and he hoped that an opportunity wodld be given to form an Association.—The Presbytery approved of the proposal, and suggested their next meeting. Some inquiries were made regarding the suggested new charge between Timaru and Pleasant Point, and the re-ply-was that the investigations were not yet completed by the committee. The-clerk mentioned that all commission* to elders expired with this meeting, and new commissions must be presented at next meeting. The Presbytery adjourned to February Bth.
